But we begin out of the White House this AM because Donald Trump has just confirmed his White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt will leave her post. She's been the only press secretary during the second Trump term, absent only briefly from April to July this year as she went on maternity maternity leave. It's only 3 months. She's the youngest person to ever hold the role after serving as assistant press secretary during the first Trump administration. During her time, she promoted non-traditional media to the White House press pool and oversaw a shift away from precedent inside the James Brady press briefing room. The 28-year-old who employed a controversial, sometimes combative communication style with the press pack has been celebrated by the president on social media. So he wrote on Truth Social just a few moments ago, "Our wonderful White House press secretary and one of my most trusted aids, Karoline Leavitt, will be departing her role at the end of the month so she can spend more time with her beautiful young children and family. A decision I totally understand and respect. Karoline will now be one of my top outside advisers and an influential voice within the Republican Party as we work to defy history and conclusively win the midterm elections. Karoline has been a real leader in the White House and has done a phenomenal job fighting for justice, liberty, and freedom since 2018." So she is the longest uh second longest serving press secretary for Donald Trump covering both of his terms. Sarah Huckabee Sanders still in the first position, 1 year 11 months. Karoline Leavitt in second position, 1 year and 7 months. So uh yeah, 3 months maternity leave is not a very long time and given the high-stress nature of that job, not surprised actually that she's decided to step down and and spend more time with her family. So that news just in from the White House that Karoline Leavitt will depart her role within the next few weeks.
