Um, White House press secretary Caroline Levit has one of the most important microphones in the world. But after welcoming her second child, she has decided to focus on something even more important than her job, her two children and her husband. President Trump praised Levit as one of the best White House press secretaries ever and that he totally respects her decision while noting she will now serve as one of his top adviserss. the youngest to ever hold the title of White House press secretary, explained her decision on X, posting, "Being a mother and welcoming a new baby while working in one of the most demanding jobs in the world has been the most rewarding yet challenging season of my life, to say the least. The truth is, since returning to the White House after the birth of my daughter, I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mom to my two young children that they deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House press secretary. And that is why I have ultimately made the bittersweet decision to depart the White House and embark on a new chapter in my life. Well, no shortage of wishes for Caroline Levit with Vice President JD Vance, chief of staff Susie Wilds, and Erica Kirk praising her work as press secretary and as also a mom. Your thoughts, Kennedy? >> Uh, that's an incredibly tough decision for a woman as accomplished as Caroline Levit. Uh, because, you know, she's one of those press secretaries who has the president's ear. She is actually in the room when those discussions are had and when the decisions are made. And that's because of her competence and you know her her just inexpressable ability to do the job she has done so well. Having said that, you know, we've had newborns and it is so demanding and you cannot possibly uh give out the energy that is required for both those jobs. And I know it must have been a very difficult costbenefit analysis for her and her heart and her family won. And that is truly for her the best case scenario because she leaves with so much goodwill, you know, at the absolute peak of her career thus far. And you know, whenever she decides to get back onto the carousel, which is one of the elements of anxiety that new moms have, you know, if I stay home, will I be able to go back? And she most certainly will. And we also have to create a culture where women feel safe to take time off to be with their children for a number of years. So, God bless her for making that decision. >> I love that. And a lot of women across this country struggle with this decision to your point. I mean, that is the hardest decision to leave, especially if it's a great job. God bless anybody that wants to be press secretary at the White House in any administration. Uh our our colleague Kayie Mcinady, Dana Pino, I mean, God bless them for taking on that role. It's tough. At the same time, you know, working moms across the country always have to take that gamble if they decide they want to be home with their kids. And what an amazing commitment to your children. Uh, the good news is Caroline Levit is young and she can come back and I can tell you multiple stories of women that took a time maybe they took a year, two years, five years away from a job, be home with your kids, especially when they're young because you don't get that time back as you all know because you're parents and you know, but then to go back and say, "Okay, I'm going to I'm going to re-enter the workforce." It is not easy. It is a risk. But I do applaud Caroline Lever for making that decision and it must have been hard for her to do so. >> Marcus, >> well, talent doesn't have Excuse [clears throat] me. talent doesn't have an expiration date. So, she'll be equally as talented. And as a as a only child boy, I love the fact that my mom worked two jobs. And yes, I didn't get to see her as much, but there are financial requirements that people have to be able to do that. She has the blessings of being able to make that choice. There are a lot of working moms out there that want to do that that juggle and balance and have to still make a living and pay for their kids. I think this really is something that employers should pay attention to and I think employers should actually encourage people to find the balance in their life and if you are as talented as I know you are, your spot's going to be here and in the interim we're going to find ways for you to keep busy even if you want to work part-time and I think this administration handled it with class and I think a lot of employers need to do the same. >> I have some thoughts on that but I want to go to Emily first. I it reflects to me in the response exactly what this administration has said that they stood for and with that we know they have which is support for mothers and prioritizing the family and the fact that she is being sent off with such incredible immeasurable support by everyone. Um, this just is another example of how this administration walks the walk. And we know that in policy, right, for the with the first Trump administration, they set policies in place for working mothers and new mothers so that they would have the benefits that they deserve. Um, I I of course her t she is incredible. She is the most brilliant, articulate person, no notes, half my age. I'm like, "Oh my gosh, bottle that [laughter] up and smell it, sister." Um, so yes, I think her future is just as bright as she is and just as bright as her newborn is. I tell you what, hire a working mother. Hire a mom. Talk about multitasking. It's so true. It is. It is a skill set that >> do more than hire. >> I mean, >> let them run your business. >> There you go. >> Let them run your business. I find them to be the best leaders in the businesses I'm involved in. >> I love it doesn't have an expiration date because everybody knows I was 40 and you know when you step away from your career at that point, you have with God's blessings built something big and I have and to step away at that point was hard. But you do you kind of you can't do everything. So you step back and you keep that prayer up. And Caroline Levit is amazing at keeping connected. I don't know how she does it. There isn't a journalist who says, "Oh, I can't get Caroline Levit. I can't get her to respond." She keeps going. And so when she gets ready to re-engage, it's going to be amazing. >> And the and the young lady who's the manager of your local grocery store has the same level of talent using a different path. Yep. And so I think this is about celebrating people's choices and embracing them and telling them it's it's not the season's not over. There's always tomorrow. >> Also, I won't I'm going to miss her every day obviously, but she is still serving as an adviser to the president. So, we all get to benefit from her brilliance still as it trickles and filters through the administration. So, >> and so does the president for that. Amazing. [laughter] >> We're beneficiaries. >> So, hey everyone. I'm Emily Kano. Catch me and my co-hosts Harris Faulner and Kaylee Mcinenni on Outnumbered every weekday at 12 PM Eastern or set your DVR.
