There seem to be a lot of Cloud Code power users that are switching over to Codex CLI recently. So after going through this entire Reddit thread, it seems like Codex was actually praised for being able to execute a task well. As some people said, Codex just does what you tell it. It says exactly what it's going to do and how. When Codex ran for 20 minutes implementing a big chunk of code and I came back to zero linter issues, I almost fell out of my chair. But obviously there's some debate. Other people said Cloud Code quickly found the real bug and endpoint name mismatched while Codex chased reCAPTCHA and other red herrings. It also seems like some pretty influential people in the developer space are making the switch over. But it's also possible that this could be a manufactured marketing moment.
